Sonos Speaker Announcing Visitor

If you have a Sonos speaker in your home, you can have it announce when people ring your doorbell instead of the regular ring. Here is what you need:

1. Nest Doorbell
2. Sonos Speakers
3. Samsung Hub
4. SmartThings Application for Smasung Phones
5. Samsung Smartphone

Verify your Nest, Sonos, Samsung Hub and Samsung phone are all on the same WiFi network.

When you open the Smarthings application, you can add Nest and Sonos as devices you want to control through Smartthings application. Once all the devices have been discovered by Smarthings software you can set up an Automated routine.

- In the Smartthings app, Select Automations.
- Next Select the + sign and from the pop-up select Add routine
- An If/Then dialogue will appear. Click the + on the If line
- Select Device Status
- Find the Nest doorbell (You may have renamed it when you added it to SmartThings during discovery like Front Door)
- Select Pressed, then select Done
- You will be back at the If/Then section and click the + by the Then
- Select Notify Someone
- Select Play message on speaker
- You will be brought to a form where you can type in whatever you want the speaker to announce like "You have a visitor at the front door" Then select Done
- Select Audio Devices and choose as many speakers as you would like the announcement to be made on then select Done.
- On my phone my language choices are only English and Korean, your phone may have more choices, so pick what you like then select Done
- You can also whether the announcement voice is Male or Female then click Done
- If you want the announcement only between a certain time-frame that option is available to you as well. (Not setting a time will have the announcement happen anytime the doorbell button is pressed.
- Once all the choices have been made, Select Done.

Now when the doorbell is pressed, a verbal announcement saying whatever phrase you like will be heard over the Sonos speakers.

Additional tip: You can go into the Nest program and turn off the bell ringing if you like so only the voice announcement is audible. otherwise you will have the doorbell ring along with the announcement.

This is just one example of what you can do with a Samsung Hub, the Smartthings app and smart devices in your home. Once you set up one routine, you'll probably want to do more!
